Magic Zoom^™ X-Cart integration

Using the Magic Zoom^™ module on the X-Cart ecommerce platform.

Integration

Note: this integration guide works only if you keep your detailed product images in a filesystem. If you use a database for image storage, then Magic Zoom^™ won't work. However, we strongly recommend that you to switch to filesystem storage because database storage is very poor from a performance point of view. More about this.

1. Add detailed product images for your products (if you haven't already).
2. Enable the “Detailed Product Images” module.
3. Disable the “Display detailed images in a popup window” option in the “Detailed Product Images” module settings:
   
4. If you have any other product thumbnail zooming modules installed, disable them.
5. Download the Magic Zoom^™ X-Cart archive: magiczoom_xcart.zip. It includes the trial version of Magic Zoom^™.
6. Unpack the zip archive locally. You should see 1 folder and 5 files.
   
7. Upload the Magic Zoom^™ folder and its 4 files to your X-Cart webserver into the {xcart_home}/skin1 folder.
8. Backup your current product_thumbnail template as follows: go to the {xcart_home}/skin1/ folder and rename product_thumbnail.tpl to product_thumbnail.tpl-save
9. Upload product_thumbnail.tpl from the zip archive to the {xcart_home}/skin1 folder.

That's all! Your product images should now have zooming!.

Customizing

You can customize Magic Zoom^™ (zoom size, position, colors) by editing these files:

• {xcart_home}/skin1/MagicZoom/MagicZoom_settings.php
• {xcart_home}/skin1/MagicZoom/MagicZoom.css

Upgrade to full version

Now you can get the full version of Magic Zoom^™. Once you have it, just replace the old mz-packed.js file with the new one from the full version.
